Oriental Shrimp Aquaculture is an SPV with Fisheries Development Oman and Phoenix as partners for the development of a shrimp farm project at Khuwemah, Jalan Bani Bu Ali in the eastern province of the Sultanate.

The proposed project is a semi-integrated shrimp intensive shrimp farm, covering an area of 200 ha. at Khuwemah. The project is designed to produce ~3500 tons of shrimp per annum.

Major elements of the project are shrimp hatchery unit, nursery units, grow out facilities and support infrastructure.

Established in 2014, the project is the first aquaculture development project that Phoenix entered into. It will produce Pacific White Shrimp or King shrimp, Penaeus Vannamei, a fast growing, desease torelant species that is farmed throughout the world.

This project has pushed the founders enthusiasm and understanding with regards to Sustainable Agri & Aquaculture as well as other Food Technolgies, and led to partnerships for a second, third and potentially fourth project with other species.

Established in 2018, the second aquaculture project that Phoenix has begun with the intent of farming as sustainably as possible with zero-discharge to the Ocean Environment.

Phoenix has developed a modular aquaculture farm that can produce upto 3000 tons of meat per module. The modules are indoor, protected from the enviroment and give now effluent discharge.

The vision is to begin with three modules producing Penaeus Vannamei or Monodon and a finfish species preferrably indigenous to the region that the farm is located in.

An innovative approach to aqua-farming with a vision that is both sustainable and scalable.

This process directly mitigates global protein shortages. These shortages continue to grow globally due to population growth and overfishing of the oceans.

Bio-secure and land-efficient farms which are protected from biological pathogens and climatic elements, sustainably produce large quantities of organically grown shrimp in continuous, year-round harvests, with zero environmental degradation or effluent discharge.

The Middle East’s rapid growth has resulted in an attractive and lucrative untapped market segment of prepaid multifunctional plastic cards.
